American Platinum Eagle are the only platinum bullion coins from the United States Mint. Introduced in 1997, the Platinum Eagles come only in a 1 oz platinum option as of 2014 when the series returned from a five-year hiatus. Since 2016, the American Platinum Eagle bullion coin has been back in regular production at the mint.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives in an individual plastic flip, a tube of 20 coins, or a mint-sealed Monster Box of 100 coins!
  • 19th release of American Platinum Eagle coins!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .9995 pure platinum in BU condition.
  • Bears a face value of $100 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • On the obverse side of the coin is the Statue of Liberty.
  • The reverse features an American bald eagle in flight.

Each 2021 1 oz American Platinum Eagle Coin in this product listing is available to purchase in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Platinum Eagles are issued individually with plastic flips or in multiples of 20 or 100. Multiples of 20 coins are housed inside of protective mint tubes, while multiples of 100 are housed inside of Monster Boxes that contain a total of 5 separate tubes.

The American Platinum Eagle was introduced by the United States Mint in 1997 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz options available to investors. These four coins were issued annually through 2008. In 2009, the US Mint suspended all four weights of the Platinum Eagle. The series did not return until 2014. When it did, only the 1 oz platinum coin was available.

On the obverse side of the 2021 1 oz American Platinum Eagle Coin is John Mercantis depiction of Liberty. This design uses the Statue of Liberty for inspiration and focuses on the face of Liberty as she looks out over the Atlantic Ocean toward the horizon as a new day dawns. The coins have inscriptions of Liberty and the date mark, national motto, and E Pluribus Unum.

The reverse face of 2021 American Platinum Eagle Coins bears a design with an American bald eagle in flight as designed Thomas D. Rogers. The image of this eagle captures the powerful aerial predator with its wings spread out wide as it glides over the nation. The sun is shown rising over the horizon in the distance. The nation of issue, weight, purity, metal content and face value of the coin are inscribed on this side.
